BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore designated players/third baseman Ashley Skey (Brookline, N.H.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Corvias Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. This marks the second time in Skey's career she's been honored by the conference as she earned GNAC Rookie of the Week honors on March 28, 2016.
Last week for the Saints, Skey batted .478 over eight games going 11-for-23 with a .581 on-base percentage and a monster .739 slugging percentage (1.320 OPS). The sophomore collected nine RBI, scored four runs, stole two bases and belted two home runs. Skey registered three-hit games against John Carroll and Elizabethtown and also notched a 4-for-5 outing against College of Saint Benedict.
In the early goings of the 2017 campaign, Skey leads the Saints with a .448 batting average while ranking fourth overall in the GNAC. She sits atop the conference in home runs (three) and RBI (13) while ranking second in OBP (.564), slugging (.759) and third in hits (13).
Skey and the Saints currently stand at 3-7 on the year and return to action on Saturday, March 18 when they play host to Newbury College in a non-conference twinbill scheduled for a 12:00 PM start at Roberto Clemente Field.
