BOSTON - In their first home meet in team history, competing in a dual against the Keystone College Giants, the Emmanuel Saints men's wrestling program came out victorious on Thursday night at the Jean Yawkey Center, claiming a 47-9 win in their inaugural home match.
In front of a packed crowd at Andy Yosinoff Court, the Saints claimed eight of the 10 bouts on the night on the way to the historic victory. Emmanuel won three matches via pinfall and an additional victory with a technical fall.
The first individual win in a dual meet in team history goes to first-year
Lorenzo Lanzilli at 157 pounds. After scoring a pair of takedowns early in the first period, Lanzelli pinned his opponent at 1:48, adding the first points to Emmanuel's team score in program history. Junior
Justin Hood followed with a dominant performance at 165, claiming a technical fall after leading 19-3 at one point in the third period.
Rookie
Aiden Riordan was next to the mat for the Saints, picking up a win via pinfall at the 1:43 mark in the 197 weight class. The final pinfall victory of the night belonged to first-year
Jared Hood, who needed only 40 seconds to score the decision for the win.
The Saints head back into tournament action on Saturday, Nov. 8, with a trip to the Anchorman Invitational, starting at 8:00 a.m.
