Emmanuel Athletics Announces Senior Awards at Class of 2026 Athletics Banquet

BOSTON - On Monday, May 4, 2026, the Emmanuel College Department of Athletics held its annual Senior Awards Banquet, honoring members of the Class of 2026 for their accomplishments on the field, in the classroom, and within the community. This year, a total of 22 awards were presented as 19 student-athletes and three Emmanuel staff members were recognized by the department.

Each May, at the conclusion of the academic year, the Emmanuel College Athletic Staff gathers to honor the numerous accomplishments achieved by the graduating class. Following an internal nominations and voting process, the department bestows awards to Saints student-athletes in the following areas: the Andrew Yosinoff Athletic Achievement Award, Scholar-Athlete Award, Leadership Award, HALO's Award, Unsung Hero Award, Perseverance Award, Saints Club Award, Inspiration Award, and Sportsmanship Award. 

All seniors honored are nominated by their Head Coaches or an Emmanuel College staff member before a selection committee of department representatives selects each award recipient based on the award descriptions.

Following the voting process, the Class of 2026 and members of the Athletic Staff gathered in the Eisner Administration Building Auditorium to celebrate this group of honorees:

 

Andrew Yosinoff Athletic Achievement Award - Cole Cloney (Men's Lacrosse)

Given annually to a senior athlete who has excelled on the playing field and provided the greatest contribution to the athletic reputation of Emmanuel College through exceptional athletic achievement.

CAREER SUMMARY: Few athletes have been able to put together a resume throughout their four years like the Medfield native. Cloney finished his career in the blue and gold with one GNAC Championship and three All-Conference first team nods, to go along with being the program leader in points and goals. Cloney surpassed 30+ goals in every season, with his season-high coming in his first year where he recorded 53 tallies. His impact was not limited to the field, as he was also a two-time captain of the Men's Lacrosse team. 

Andrew Yosinoff Athletic Achievement Award - Sarah Dullaghan (Women's Soccer)

Given annually to a senior athlete who has excelled on the playing field and provided the greatest contribution to the athletic reputation of Emmanuel College through exceptional athletic achievement.

CAREER SUMMARY: Not only did Dullaghan re-write the program's record books, she cemented herself among Division III Women's Soccer's greatest performers. Her record-breaking junior season broke records that were set over two decades ago, as her 45 goals and 99 points stand alone at the top of the list. Her list of accomplishments do not stop there, as she finished her career with Emmanuel as back-to-back Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) champions. She leaves the program as the all time leader in goals, points, as well as goals and points in a single game. The program record book is littered with her accomplishments, cementing her legendary status.

Senior Scholar-Athlete Award - Andrew Kubaska (Men's Cross Country and Track & Field)

Given annually to a male and a female member of the senior class who combine excellence in the classroom with excellence on the playing field and have maintained the highest cumulative grade point average among the senior student-athletes.

CAREER SUMMARY:  A captain of the Men's Track and Field program as well as a two-year member of the cross-country team, Kubaska's presence was felt on and off the track. As a distance runner, he posted career bests of 20:43 in the 5k and 34:05 in the 8k. Kubaska was also a member of the Men's Indoor and Outdoor Track runner-up team's in 2026, the best finish in program history. 

Senior Scholar-Athlete Award - Maeve Gaffny (Women's Volleyball)

Given annually to a male and a female member of the senior class who combine excellence in the classroom with excellence on the playing field and have maintained the highest cumulative grade point average among the senior student-athletes.

CAREER SUMMARY: A Senior captain for the Saints, Gaffny played a key role in the record-breaking 2025 Women's Volleyball campaign where the team finished the year with 28 wins. Appearing in 156 sets over her career, Gaffny recorded 144 kills to go along with eight aces and 71 total blocks. 

Senior Scholar-Athlete Award - Annebel Balogh de Galantha (Women's Soccer)

Given annually to a male and a female member of the senior class who combine excellence in the classroom with excellence on the playing field and have maintained the highest cumulative grade point average among the senior student-athletes.

CAREER SUMMARY: A four year starter for Emmanuel Women's soccer, Balogh de Galantha's impact has been felt since the second she stepped on campus. A defensive anchor for the Saints, one of her best abilities, was her availability, on the field for 97.1% of the total minutes played by the soccer program since she joined the team in 2022. The Grafton, Mass. native finished her career with three straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) first-team honors, culminating in winning the conference's defender of the year award in her final campaign. She also exits Emmanuel as a two-time GNAC Champion, leaving her mark all over the program. 

Senior Leadership Award - Gabriel Eduarte (Men's Soccer)

Given annually to a senior athlete who has distinguished himself or herself by demonstrating the qualities desired to lead successful teams throughout his or her athletic career.

CAREER SUMMARY: A four-year player, appearing in 42 games and making 26 starts for the Blue and Gold. His voice and leadership were always apparent on and off the field, as he was voted a captain for his senior season. A key presence in the midfield, Eduarte amassed 2279 total minutes played and was awarded with a CSC Academic All-District squad nod. 

Senior Leadership Award - Annebel Balogh de Galantha (Women's Soccer)

Given annually to a senior athlete who has distinguished himself or herself by demonstrating the qualities desired to lead successful teams throughout his or her athletic career.

HALO's Award - Alexandra Gencarelli (Women's Soccerl/Lacrosse)

Honors the senior athlete who best represents Emmanuel and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur with Heart, Attitude, Loyalty, Outstanding athletic ability, and demonstrated success as a student.

CAREER SUMMARY: A two-sport athlete for Emmanuel in both soccer and lacrosse, a three year member of each program. Gencarelli is a proven winner, as she reached the conference championship game in every single season, for each team that she was on, taking home three Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships. The Bradford, R.I. native finished her lacrosse career with 56 games played, 53 ground balls and 47 caused turnovers. On the pitch, she recorded 62 games played and 10 total points as she was a fixture on the Saints defense. 

HALO's Award - Trey Guest (Men's Volleyball)

Honors the senior athlete who best represents Emmanuel and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur with Heart, Attitude, Loyalty, Outstanding athletic ability, and demonstrated success as a student.

CAREER SUMMARY: Guest finished an impressive career on a high note, as after three straight years on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) second team, he finally broke through to the first-team during his final campaign. During his senior season, he became the seventh player in program history to eclispe the 1,000 kill mark. An impressive 4.72 kills per set during this season ranked first in the conference, while his 5.48 points per set average was good for best in the entire country. The Newington Conn. native finished his career with 1,057 kills to go along with 230 total blocks. 

Senior Unsung Hero Award - Luke Wiley (Men's Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field)

Given annually to a senior athlete who has exhibited leadership, dedication, and athletic achievement in quiet ways, which may have gone unrecognized throughout his or her career.

CAREER SUMMARY: A senior captain for the Men's Track and Field team, Wiley battled many injuries over his career, but his dedication to the program and his teammates never wavered. Primarily a sprinter/jumps, he battled through injury during the Outdoor Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships to participate in the discus throw, finishing with a best of 28.24m. He also finished his career with a PB of 7.45 in the 60, and 24.11 in the 200. 

Senior Unsung Hero Award - Avery Robillard (Women's Lacrosse)

Given annually to a senior athlete who has exhibited leadership, dedication, and athletic achievement in quiet ways, which may have gone unrecognized throughout his or her career.

CAREER SUMMARY: A premier two-way player in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), Robillard's contributions were vital across the board. She received an All-Conference third team nod in her final year, as she finished with 23 goals and 29 assists, along with 53 ground balls and 39 caused turnovers. The Rowley, Mass. native is also a two-time captain of the team, and was a key member of the 2025 GNAC Championship squad. 

Perseverance Award - Tiffany Fischer (Women's Basketball)

Given annually to a senior student-athlete who has shown great determination in overcoming physical setbacks.  Through hard work and dedication, this senior has been able to overcome the challenges set forth and successfully return to athletic competition.

CAREER SUMMARY: Fighting through multiple major leg injuries, Fischer's determination and dedication to her teammates never wavered. Consistently showing up to practices and games, her support and leadership left a lasting impact, even through the off-court battles. Fischer suited up in 42 games for the Saints, and was a member of the 2025-2026 GNAC Champions. 

Perseverance Award - Isabella Marquez (Women's Volleyball)

Given annually to a senior student-athlete who has shown great determination in overcoming physical setbacks.  Through hard work and dedication, this senior has been able to overcome the challenges set forth and successfully return to athletic competition.

CAREER SUMMARY: Coming back from a torn ACL is not an easy feat, but Marquez made it look like one, posting three dominant seasons on the court. She tallied 975 total kills over those three seasons, racking up a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) second-team nod, two first- team selections as well as the offensive player of the year award in her senior campaign. Marquez wrapped up her career 7th in program history in total kills, as well as the all-time leader in kills per set at 3.63.

Saints Club Award - Ismani Cepeda (Men's Basketball)

Honors the senior athlete who best represents and exemplifies the spirit of the College's athletic program.

CAREER SUMMARY: Even though an injury derailed his senior season, Cepeda's leadership played a critical role in a big turnaround season for the men's basketball program, as he was voted as a captain. The Roxbury native made an impact on the program from day one, as he appeared in 26 games as a first year. His junior campaign proved to be his best, as he averaged over 25 minutes a night, providing an offensive spark off the bench. Cepeda finished his career with 76 games played and 452 total points. 

Saints Club Award - Madeline Wright (Women's Lacrosse)

Honors the senior athlete who best represents and exemplifies the spirit of the College's athletic program.

CAREER SUMMARY: Wright burst onto the scene when she first arrived on campus as a sophomore, scoring three goals in her first ever game donning the blue and gold. This set the tone for the rest of her well-decorated career, ending with three straight Midfielder of the Year awards, sweeping the honor every year she was in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). This is only the beginning of Wright's accomplishments, as she also earned three straight First-Team nods while also becoming one of 17 DIII women's lacrosse players ever to eclipse the 300 goal mark. The Mattapoisett, Mass. native is not only a fixture in the record books, scoring a program record 74 goals as a junior, but is also a 2025 GNAC Champion. 

Senior Inspiration Award - Nick Sciabica (Men's Volleyball)

Honors the outstanding senior athlete who best represents the graduating class in scholarship, leadership and sportsmanship.

CAREER SUMMARY: A difference-maker from day 1, Sciabica leaves behind the program better then he found out. Amassing 360 matches played in his career along with 752 digs. In his final season, Sciabica was awarded with his first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) defensive player of the week nod. His impact extends off the court as well, as he was named a captain of the team for his final two seasons.  

Senior Inspiration Award - Sydney Gonzalez (Women's Cross Country and Track & Field)

Honors the outstanding senior athlete who best represents the graduating class in scholarship, leadership and sportsmanship.

CAREER SUMMARY: Nobody won more in the class of 2026 then Sydney Gonzalez, who will be exiting Emmanuel College as a six-time Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Champion (1x Cross Country, 3x Indoor Track, 2x Outdoor track). A senior captain for Track and Field and Cross Country, Gonzalez was known for her hard work ethic, and dedication to the program. The Guilderland, N.Y. native also holds the program record in the 3k with a time of 12:42.2. 

Senior Sportsmanship Award - Samuel Yan (Men's Lacrosse)

Given annually to the senior athlete who has conducted his or herself in the highest manner on the playing field, including interactions with players, coaches, and officials.

CAREER SUMMARY: Yan is a four-year lacrosse player for Emmanuel making 71 career appearances. His career has been headlined by remarkable consistency and professionalism. A member of the 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) champions, Yan has been a versatile weapon for the Saints. Finishing his career with 37 goals and 70 total points, to go along with 49 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. 

Senior Sportsmanship Award - Megan Reilly (Women's Basketball/Soccer)

Given annually to the senior athlete who has conducted his or herself in the highest manner on the playing field, including interactions with players, coaches, and officials.

CAREER SUMMARY: A two-sport athlete for Emmanuel in both soccer and basketball, ultimately making her greatest impact on the court. An unsung hero for the basketball program, as she won Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament MVP in her senior campaign, following a 10 point, 14 rebound performance to send the program to it's first NCAA Tournament since 2021-2022. A master of the dirty work, the Southbury, Conn. native shined in the big moments, propelling her to be a two-time GNAC champion across her two sports.
