Brenna Morrissey enters her second season as head coach of the Emmanuel softball team in 2025 after being announced as the Saints head coach in July 2023. Morrissey also serves as the Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) at Emmanuel.

In her first season as Emmanuel Softball Head Coach, Morrissey brought the team to a 21-16 record, continuing the Saints now six-year run with at least 20 wins in a season (excluding the canceled 2020 season). At their best, the Saints went on an eight-game winning streak through late-April that had them poised for a playoff run. Ultimately, the team finished 13-3 in the conference and was on the road for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Playoffs.

The 2024 team produced four GNAC All-Conference Team players in total, one on the First Team, two on the Second Team, and one on the Third Team. The Saints also had three Academic All-District Squad members.

Before coming to Emmanuel, Morrissey has made stops at the collegiate level at Boston University, MIT, and Harvard University.

At BU from 2018-2020, Morrissey helped the Terriers repeat as Patriot League champions, claim a program-record 10 All-Conference awards, and post a perfect 18-0 home record. Her responsibilities involved assisting with infield and hitting, while also helping with recruiting and managing the team’s in-game charts and scouting reports.

Morrissey joined BU after two years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at MIT. During her tenure, the Engineers combined for 59 wins, won their first NEWMAC Championship, had their second ever NFCA All-American, and advanced to the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championship in Oklahoma City, placing 7th overall.

Morrissey helped improve the team’s fielding percentage from .940% to .969%, finishing 16th nationally. Throughout her tenure, MIT was consistently ranked in Top 25 national polls. In 2018, Morrissey, along with the staff, was honored with the NFCA New England Region Coaching Staff of the Year award.

For the 2014 and 2015 seasons, Morrissey served as a volunteer assistant at Harvard University where she managed the team’s in-game hitting charts and helped with day-to-day operations.

Morrissey’s coaching career began at her alma-mater, Georgia State University, where she served as a student assistant. A 2013 graduate, Morrissey walked onto the team as a transfer sophomore and went on to play in over 150 games at shortstop, second base and designated player. A career .302 hitter in the leadoff role and All-CAA Second Team honoree, she helped lead the Panthers to their first CAA Championship and NCAA Regional berth in 2011.

Prior to her arrival in Georgia, Morrissey played her freshman season at Division II Assumption College (now University) in Worcester, Mass. She started all 46 games at shortstop and was named to the All-Northeast 10 First Team and All-Northeast 10 Tournament First Team. Morrissey is an alumnus of Lawrence Academy in Groton, Massachusetts. where she was a tri-varsity athlete and 2019 inductee of the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.

Passionate about player development, sport psychology and student-athlete well-being, Morrissey graduated in August 2019 with her Masters of Education in School and Counseling Psychology and Positive Coaching from the University of Missouri. Prior to Emmanuel, Morrissey served as the Assistant Dean of Students at Middlesex School where she also coached soccer and field hockey.

Morrissey lives in Somerville with her wife, Amanda, and son, Bennett.
