BOSTON, MA - Sophomore forward Amber Di Nucci (Assonet, MA) had a hand in all five of the Saints' goals, as the Emmanuel Women's Soccer Team downed Rivier College, 5-0, on Tuesday night. Di Nucci notched her tenth goal of the season and assisted on four others, as the Saints shut out the Raiders, improving to 7-4 on the season and 5-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Emmanuel dominated offensive play, out-shooting Rivier, 27-4, including posting a 16-4 shots-on-goal differential. The Saints also owned all of the game's corner kick situations, totaling 8 on the night. Five Emmanuel players netted goals with three coming in the opening half of play.

Junior midfielder Meghan Long (Smithfield, RI) kicked off the scoring for the Saints. Long one-timed a shot in front of the net off a nice cross from Di Nucci just four minutes into the game. Di Nucci knocked in a goal of her own in the 22nd minute. Junior midfielder Kate McKenna (Holyoke, MA) played a great cross in front, which Di Nucci flicked over the head of Rivier keeper Kathleen Moran (Pembroke, NH), giving Emmanuel a 2-0 advantage.

The Saints were able to tack on another one just eight minutes later. Sophomore midfielder Kristina Marik (Airmont, NY) drilled a shot at the back post after a Di Nucci pass. Emmanuel then took a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Freshman forward Melanie Hoffman (Topsham, ME) jumped in on the scoring ten minutes into the second half. Hoffman took a feed from Di Nucci and went one-on-one with Moran, before drilling it past the keeper, and putting the Saints up four. Emmanuel's sophomore forward Alison DeCarlo (Wilton, CT) scored her first collegiate goal in the 79th minute. Di Nucci played a pretty back-heal to DeCarlo, who was streaking down the left side and finished off the play beautifully, capping off the scoring for the Saints.

Emmanuel's senior goalkeeper Laureyn Furtney (Barrington, NH) stopped all four of Rivier's shots on goal, picking up her 7th win and 3rd shutout of the season. Moran made 11 saves in the effort for the Raiders.

The Saints will take on Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon (10/11) in a 4pm start at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, MA. The Emmanuel men's game vs. Emerson College will follow at 7pm.
