VOLLEYBALL TEAM DOWNS RIVIER IN 5-SET NAILBITER

NASHUA, NH - Senior co-captain Lindsey Parker (New Bedford, MA) posted a double-double to lead the Emmanuel Women's Volleyball Team to a huge 3-2 win over Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) rival Rivier College on Tuesday night. The Saints rebounded from four road losses over the weekend to edge the Raiders in five sets, marking Emmanuel's first win over Rivier since the 2006 season.

Parker hit .280 for the match, recording 20 kills in 50 attempts. She also collected 11 digs and 2 blocks in the win. Senior co-captain Amanda Machado (Swansea, MA) led the Saints' defensive charge, tallying a team-high 22 digs in the back row. Freshman outside hitter Jenna Ross (Centerburg, OH) played a solid match for Emmanuel, notching 8 kills, 19 digs, and 2 aces.

Emmanuel's freshman setter Kathryne Olsen (Fairhaven, MA) dished out 33 assists, while junior middle Nicole McAllister (Hampden, ME) totaled 7 blocks for the Saints. Junior opposite Diana Grimaldi (Sandy Hook, CT) chipped in with 6 kills and 9 digs in the win.

With this win, the Saints remain perfect in GNAC play at 3-0, while improving to 7-9 overall. Rivier fell to 11-10 on the season and 2-1 in the conference. Emmanuel will play again on Thursday night (10/9) in a GNAC tri-match at Emerson College. The Saints will take on both Emerson and Lasell, with the matches beginning at 4pm.
