BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Babson College women's soccer team scored five goals for the third time this season as the Beavers shut out visiting Emmanuel College, 5-0, in a non-conference match at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Thursday afternoon. With the win, Babson improved to 4-2-2 on the year, while the Saints fell to 2-3.

Emmanuel goalie Laureyn Furtney (Barrington, N.H.) kept her team in the game early, making three saves in the first seven minutes. However, the Beavers finally broke through at the 29-minute mark when senior tri-captain Jackie Graham (Winchester, Mass.) took a ball out of a scramble in front and tucked a shot into the lower left corner for her fifth goal of the season.

It remained a one-goal game until the opening minute of the second half, when Babson senior Kirsten Schmid (Babylon, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season out of a scramble at 45:58. Freshman Annie Kenney (Weston, Mass.) and sophomore Patty Pytlik (Wellesley, Mass.) then netted back-to-back goals at 59:17 and 60:13 to make it 4-0, and junior Julie Berenz (Hanover ,Mass.) added the first goal of her collegiate career at the 80-minute mark, as the Beavers claimed the 5-0 win.

Sophomore goalie Sarah Macary (Woodbury, Conn.) played the first half for Babson and made two saves before being relieved by sophomore Kristy Benoit (Shrewsbury, Conn.), who stopped one shot in the second. Furtney finished with eight saves in net for the Saints.

Emmanuel will kick off conference play this Saturday (9/20). The Saints will travel to Providence, RI to take on the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University in a 1pm start.
