BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team finished 2-1 for the Crabtree Classic this weekend in Willimantic, Conn.
The Saints are now 9-11 on the season after defeating Worcester State, 3-0 and the University of New England, 3-2 before falling to Eastern Connecticut State, 3-1.
In the team's opening match, junior Jenna Ross (Centerburg, Ohio) led the Saints with 13 kills and 14 digs for the contest. Junior Kathryne Olsen (Fairhaven, Mass.) tallied 24 assists while both junior Rebecca Stanton (Quincy, Mass.) and sophomore Rachel Swiezynski (Exeter, N.H.) notched three blocks each.
Emmanuel's 3-2 win over UNE was marked by Ross' 16 kills and Stanton's 15. Sophomore Yun-Ting Lee (Cambridge, Mass.) grabbed 30 digs for the Saints while Olsen also added 40 assists. Junior Samantha Andazola earned an impressive stat for the day by tallying seven service aces for Emmanuel.
The Saints were unable to replicate their performances against their previous two opponents in the third match against Eastern Connecticut State. Andazola led the squad with 16 kills and her 24 digs were also good for second on the team. Lee's 27 digs and Olsen's 40 assists were also tops for those categories.
The Saints will play again this Monday when the team will travel to take on Rivier College in Nashua, N.H. at 1:00 p.m.
