NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Emmanuel College men's basketball team lost to Albertus Magnus College, 82-63 on Saturday afternoon in New Haven, Conn.
With the loss, the Saints fell to 2-5 on the season.
The two squads transitioned back and forth for the first eight minutes of the contest with Emmanuel grabbing a two point lead early on and Albertus Magnus taking a 13-12 advantage at the 13:33 mark of the half.
The Saints held AMC to seven points with a 29-22 score and later with a 33-26 score as the half came to a close.
The first half ended with the score 43-33 in favor of the home team. Albertus Magnus led the points in the paint category with a total of 20-18 and also the points off turnovers by 11-6.
The Saints shot 14-39 from the floor in the opening frame, hitting 2-9 three-pointers. Senior co-captain Tyrone Buchanan led Emmanuel in scoring with seven points while junior Isaiah Duke and sophomore Xavier Everson each grabbed four boards for the Saints.
Emmanuel went 9-30 from the field in the second half while shooting 12-17 from the stripe. Freshman Josh Welles led the Saints with seven points of his own in the second half with junior Nate Jackson grabbing four rebounds.
Sophomore Michael Mailhot let all Emmanuel scorers with 11 points in the contest while Everson's seven rebounds and four steals were each tops for their respective categories.
The Saints will break for the rest of 2010 and return to the court on January 6 to face Endicott College in Beverly, Mass. at 7:00 p.m.
