Boston, Mass. - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team
completed a perfect 4-0 weekend Saturday afternoon by notching a
pair of 3-0 victories over Framingham State University and the
University of Maine - Fort Kent at the FSU Gymnasium. With the
victories, the Saints improve to 9-11 on the season while the
losses drop the Rams (FSU) to 10-7 and the Bengals (UMFK) to
3-7.
In the afternoon's opening match, Emmanuel made quick work out
of the Bengals downing them in three sets, 25-17, 25-9, 25-16.
Senior outside hitter Jenna Ross
(Centerburg, Ohio) led the way with a match-high 14 kills to go
along with 10 digs while fellow senior Rebecca Stanton
(Quincy, Mass.) played well in the middle, notching 11 kills while
hitting .450 from the floor. Senior setter Kathryne Olsen
(Fairhaven, Mass.) cued the offensive unit with a game-high 19
assists while freshman setter Alison Donnelly
(Longmeadow, Mass.) chipped in with 11 assists.
The Saints stayed hot in their second match of the afternoon by
handling the host Rams, 25-20, 25-17, 25-17. Again it was Ross
leading the way with a team-high 11 kills while also posting 10
digs for the double-double. Stanton was next in line in the kills
column, totaling nine in the win while Olsen and Donnelly both
tallied double-digit assist totals with 15 and 11, respectively.
Junior libero Yun-Ting Lee
(Cambridge, Mass.) anchored Emmanuel's defensive effort by getting
down for a match-high 16 digs.
With the two wins the Saints are now on a four-match winnings
streak and have won five of their last six. Next up, they'll
welcome Lesley University to the Jean Yawkey Center for a
non-conference match-up on Tuesday, October 4 beginning at 7:00
PM.
