Nashua, N.H. - The Emmanuel College Women's Soccer Team notched two second-half goals to top Rivier College, 2-1, in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Saints remain undefeated at 4-0 on the season, while the Raiders fell to 1-3 overall.

The game was a bit of a chess match in the scoreless first half. Rivier's sophomore goalkeeper Christine Surber (Langdon, N.H.) made an incredible save as she stopped an Emmanuel breakaway late in the first stanza. The Saints would record their first goal of the game in the 56th minute. Emmanuel's senior captain Logan Carr (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) sent a corner kick into the box, where she found sophomore Donandrea Myette (Portsmouth, R.I.) who one-timed it past the diving Surber. This was Myette's third goal of the young season.

Emmanuel would add another goal just three minutes later when sophomore Darcey Sullivan (Dalton, Mass.) set up classmate Lindsey Garvey (Warwick, R.I.) for her 4th goal of the year, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead.

Rivier would not let up. In the 74th minute, sophomore Lauren Tamposi (Hollis, N.H.) was able to break through the stringent Emmanuel defense and bury a shot into the far side to cut the deficit in half. The goal was Tamposi's 4th of the season and she has now scored in the past three games.

Emmanuel goalkeeper Jessica D'Ottavio stopped 4 of the 5 shots she saw in the game while Surber was 10-for-12. D'Ottavio recorded her 4th win of the season for the Saints.

Rivier will return to action on Wednesday night when they host Lasell College in a GNAC match-up. Game time is set for 7pm. Emmanuel will travel to Northfield, Vt. to take on Norwich University in a GNAC game on Wednesday (9/14) afternoon.
