NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team
suffered two losses Saturday afternoon in a tri-match hosted at
Colby-Sawyer, falling to the hosts, 3-1 before dropping a 3-1
decision to Brandeis University in the second match of the day. In
the third match of the afternoon, Colby-Sawyer downed Brandeis,
3-2.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 5-7 after picking up a pair of wins on
Saturday. Brandeis goes to 7-3 with the loss to Colby-Sawyer and
win over Emmanuel. Emmanuel lost to Colby-Sawyer and Brandeis and
is now 4-9 on the season.
Match 1 - Colby-Sawyer 3, Emmanuel 1 - 25-16, 26-28, 25-19,
25-10
Colby-Sawyer was led by Courtney O'Hara's (Mystic, Conn.)
match-high 16 kills. She also added 15 digs. Sophomore Emilee
McBride (Strafford, N.H.) collected 14 kills, while hitting .375.
Senior setter Kristin Sawyer (Walpole, Mass.) had 38 assists and
three aces for the Chargers.
The Saints were led by a 13 kill, seven block performance from
senior Rebecca
Stanton (Quincy, Mass.). Senior Jenna
Ross (Centerburg, Ohio) flirted with a double-double with eight
kills and 10 digs. Senior Kathryne
Olsen(Fairhaven, Mass.) played well with five kills, 20
assists, and nine digs.
Match 2 -Brandeis 3, Emmanuel 1 - 25-9, 25-15, 14-25, 25-23
Brandeis was led by freshman Liz Hood (Albuquerque, N.M.). She
recorded a match best 18 kills with a .382 hitting percentage. She
also added three aces and six digs. Freshman Elsie Bernaiche
(Plantsville, Conn.) tallied a match-high 23 digs. Sophomore setter
Yael Einhorn (Cherry Hill, N.J.) registered 33 assists, four kills
and six digs. Junior Susan Sun (Acton, Mass.) had seven aces.
Senior Rebecca
Stanton (Quincy, Mass.) had a team-high 10 kills to lead
Emmanuel. Senior Kathryne
Olsen (Fairhaven, Mass.) collected 16 assists, 16 digs and
seven kills. Junior Moriah
Logan (Halifax, Mass.) had nine kills. Freshman Alison
Donnelly(Longmeadow, Mass.) recorded 12 assists and seven digs.
Emmanuel returns to the court next Saturday for a tri-match at
Norwich.
The Saints will be back in action a week from today when they
head to Northfield, V.T. for another tri-match against Norwich
University and Lasell College beginning at 2:00 p.m.
