NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball Team dropped a
three-set decision to Lasell College before rebounding to defeat
Norwich University in straight sets in a Great Northeast Athletic
Conference (GNAC) tri-match played at Norwich on Saturday
afternoon. This was the opening day of conference play and with the
split, the Saints now stand at 5-10 on the season and 1-1 in the
league.
The Lasers defeated the Saints by scores of 25-20, 27-25 and
25-19 in Emmanuel's first match of the afternoon. Emmanuel's senior
captains led the way for the Saints, combining for 33 kills and 21

Olsen (Fairhaven, Conn.) posted a near triple-double with a
team-high 13 kills, hitting .765, to go along with 10 assists and 7
digs. Classmate Rebecca Stanton
(Quincy, Mass.) hit .320, slamming down 11 kills and tallying 3
blocks. Fellow-captain Jenna Ross
(Centerburg, Ohio) hit .350 with 9 kills and 11 digs.
Emmanuel's junior libero Yun-Ting Lee
(Cambridge, Mass.) gathered a match-high 23 digs, while rookie Caroline
Callahan (Medway, Mass.) recorded 11 digs in two sets played.
Freshman Alison Donnelly
(Longmeadow, Mass.) shared time setting with Olsen and dished out
15 assists in a two-set effort.
The Saints then snapped their four-match losing skid with a 3-1
victory over the host Cadets of Norwich. Emmanuel took a 25-16 win
in the first set, but dropped set two, 15-25. The Saints then
rallied to narrowly capture set three, 27-25, and decidedly won the
fourth set, 25-15.
Emmanuel's leaders in the victory were once again Stanton, Ross
and Olsen. Stanton notched a match-high 16 kills, hitting at a clip
of .324, to go along with her match-high 6 blocks. Ross added a
double-double of 11 kills and 14 digs, while Olsen tallied 8 kills,
21 assists and 22 digs. Donnelly dished out 21 assists in the
combined setting effort for Emmanuel. The Saints' defense was led
by Lee's match-high 32 digs.
Emmanuel will return to the court on Tuesday night, when the
Saints host the Anchorwomen of Rhode Island College in a 7:00 PM
start.
