Box Score 2 NEWTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team closed out the 2012 regular season with a pair of victories Saturday afternoon, downing the University of Saint Joseph (CT) and Mount Ida College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on the Mount Ida campus. With the win, the Saints (14-17, 8-4 GNAC) lock up the No. 5 seed in the GNAC tournament which begins on Tuesday.
Against Saint Joseph's, the Saints were able to notch a 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-19) victory behind a strong performance by sophomore right side hitter Sarah Colby (West Barnstable, Mass.) who finished the day with eight kills. Senior libero Yun-Ting Lee (Keelung, Taiwan) chipped in with 14 digs.
Later in the day the Saints would top the host Mustangs, 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 25-24), in a competitve match. Freshman middle hitter Brittany Tutalo (Johnston, R.I.) paced the offensive action with 13 kills and 4.5 total blocks. Freshman setter Shannon Dudley (Arroyo Grande, Calif.) dished out 19 assists in the win.
Emmanuel will return to the court when they face Simmons College in the 4/5 matchup of the GNAC tournament on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.
