THE LEAD:  Senior defender Kaylin Deschenes (Lynn, Mass.) scored her first career hat trick to power the Emmanuel College women's soccer team past Anna Maria College, 9-1, on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at AMCat Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Deschenes opened the scoring in the 15th minute of play, hooking up with junior midfielder Sydney Allen (Charlestown, R.I.) to get the Saints on the board at 1-0 before Allen made it 2-0 during the 16th minute with an assist from senior forward Natalie Dash (East Hampton, Conn.)
  • Deschenes wasted no time to make it 3-0, scoring in the 17th minute before first year forward Megan McMillen (North Branford, Conn.) scored to make it 4-0 in the 28th minute with another Dash assist.
  • EC outshot the hosts by a 14-1 margin at the break, dominating the time of possession.
  • Junior wingback Hannah Sheskey (Scituate, Mass.) scored an unassisted marker early in the second stanza to bump the lead to 5-0 before Dash got into the scoring action with her team-leading ninth goal of the year, with Deschenes returning the favor with the assist to make it 6-0.
  • Deschenes notched the hat trick in the 58th minute with the help of an assist from junior winger Paige White (Guilford, Conn.) for the 7-0 score.
  • Sheskey found  the back of the net for the second time of the game in the 63rd minute to add to the lead at 8-0, finishing a pass from sophomore defender Kennedy Davignon (Woodstock, Conn.)
  • The AMCats broke up the shutout in the 69th minute with an unassisted goal by Shannon LeBlanc but the Saints got it back before the final whistle as sophomore winger Hannah Sullivan capped off the scoring in the 86th minute to account for the 9-1 final.
