THE LEAD – The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team showed resiliency in two matches this morning but ultimately fell to both Saint Joseph's College (ME), 3-2 and UMaine Fort Kent, 3-1, in a tri-match hosted by the Monks. The Saints fell behind 0-2 in both contests and were able to extend each match before ultimately falling on the road.

MATCH ONE: Saint Joseph's College, 3 – Emmanuel, 2 (25-18, 25-15, 19-25, 23-25, 15-9)

Saint Joseph's College controlled the action in the first and second sets, posting 25-18 and 25-15 wins in what looked to be the start of quick finish but the Saints had other plans with an impressive 25-19 third set showing. EC battled in the fourth set, coming from behind to post a 25-23 win to force a deciding fifth set.

In the final frame, Emmanuel took a 6-4 lead early in the action to force the Monks to call a timeout and out of the break, the hosts closed the match on an impressive 11-3 run to prevail, 3-2.
