Women's Soccer Falls in GNAC Quarters at Johnson & Wales

Box Score

PROVIDENCE - The Johnson & Wales Women's Soccer team defeated the Emmanuel (Mass.) Saints in the Quarterfinals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday evening, 3-0.

The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead through Junior Jordan Restivo (Utica, N.Y.), who ran a give and go off of a corner kick with Olivia Cairrao (Bristol, R.I.), and fired a shot towards the back post from the left side of the box that sailed over the goalkeepers head into the net. Restivo added a second goal minutes later, this time taking a shot from the right side of the box that flew past the keeper into the side netting, giving JWU a two-goal advantage.

The third and final goal for JWU came towards the end of the half, when Jenna Dzubak (Carmel, N.Y.) laid back a toe poke to Cairrao, who took a left footed shot that soared over the goalkeeper's head and under the crossbar for the goal.

The teams played to a scoreless second half, giving JWU the victory 3-0 in the quarterfinal. Carly McCrumb (Grandville, Mich.) played all 90 minutes in net, earning the clean sheet with one save.

JWU will host the semifinal on Wednesday at 7:00pm against the St. Joseph (CT) Blue Jays.
