HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The hosts held EC to a 27.6% first half shooting percentage while connecting at a 53.3% clip in the second quarter to open up the double-digit lead.
  • The Bantams came out of halftime on fire, putting together an 11-1 run to open the third to extend the lead to 41-20 after a layup by Samantha Slofkiss (Marlboro, N.J.) put the hosts on top by 21 with 3:50 left in the quarter.
  • Emmanuel answered with a 14-0 flurry fueled by eight points from sophomore guard Yannie Chan (Hong Kong, China) to stay in the hunt trailing by seven (41-34) heading into the final quarter.
  • A layup by EC sophomore forward Desiree Robinson (New Haven, Conn.) with 4:34 remaining kept the distance at seven with a 49-42 score but Trinity closed the door on the Saints by finishing the night strong by outscoring Emmanuel in the final four minutes of regulation by an 11-3 margin to account for the 60-45 final.
