HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Chargers started the game fast with first year Kevin Cummings drilling a three followed by a pair of layups first by junior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.) followed by a finish by junior Conor Kelly (Charlestown, Mass.) to give the home team a 7-0 lead.
  • Lampron continued the hot streak knocking down a three a pull-up three to give Colby-Sawyer a 10-2 advantage. Back-to-back Cummings threes put the stop to a 6-0 Saints run and gave the Chargers a 16-8 lead.
  • Emmanuel slowly climbed back into the game with another Lampron triple to halt the comeback and hold the Charger lead at 25-19 with 8:26 left in the first half. The Saints continued the late first half surge gong on a 10-2 run and knotting the game at 29-29 with 5:27 left in the first on a layup by sophmore Eljay Morris (London, England).
  • A Lampron three put the Chargers in front momentarily, before a 7-0 run gave the Saints a 36-32 advantage headed into the break.
  • The Saints took control in the second half storming ahead by 12 points with 15:44 remaining on an old-fashion three point play by sophomore guard Donte Pope (Middletown, Conn.). The EC lead would jump to a game-high 17 points with 11:06 on the clock before a counter 7-0 run sparked by another Lampron three to get the game to 60-50.
  • Another Cummings three got the game to single-digits with 8:19 remaining, but the Saints closed strong getting the game back to double-digits and out of the Chargers reach with strong play down the stretch by Pope, sophomore Bryant Ciccio (Attleboro, Mass.) and grad student Zachary Crisafulli (Easthampton, Mass.)
