THE LEAD – Seven players scored in double-figures to lead host Emmanuel College over Dean College, 106-30, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's basketball action Thursday evening on the Andy Yosinoff Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Saints set the tone early, holding the Bulldogs to just four points in the opening stanza to jump ahead to a 26-4 lead through one.
  • Both teams put together their best offensive output in the second frame as the Saints outscored Dean by a 31-13 margin fueled by nine points in the quarter by junior guard Olivia Matela (Swampscott, Mass.) to give the hosts a 57-17 lead at the halftime break.
  • Sophomore Desiree Robinson (New Haven, Conn.) and junior Allison Wild (Tewksbury, Mass.) each scored seven points in the third to help EC move the lead to 80-24 through three quarters of action.
  • In the final frame, seven different Saints scored in a 26-6 quarter to account for the 106-30 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Robinson led all scorers with a career-high 17 points and came one rebound shy of the double-double with a game-high nine boards.
  • Matela finished with 12 points while Wild, and juniors Shakirah Ketant (Easton, mass.) and Keira Eubanks (Portland, Maine) all netted 11, respectively.
  • Rounding out the Saints in double-figures were sophomore Yannie Chan (Hong Kong, China) and first year Megan Reilly (Southbury, Conn.) with 10 points each.
  • First year guard Angelina Giordano (Chicago, Ill.) dished out a career-high 10 assists while classmate Tiffany Fischer (South River, N.J.) was one dime behind her with nine helpers in the win.
  • Tori Via (Johnson, R.I.) paced the Bulldogs with a team-high 14 points over 31 minutes of action.
  • The 76-point win is the largest margin of victory in Emmanuel program history.
