HOW IT HAPPENED

Later in the quarter, an EC 8-0 spurt, capped by a three-point play for junior Allison Wild (Tewksbury, Mass.), pushed the Saints lead to 14, but back-to-back baskets by USJ junior Jordan Ouellette (Bristol, Mass.) ended the quarter with EC holding a 20-10 lead.
  • Emmanuel jumped out to their largest lead of the half with the first eight points of the second quarter over a 1:59 span, giving them a 28-10 edge. The Blue Jays fought back over the next 4:58, holding the Saints scoreless while cutting into the deficit with the use of a 9-0 run to trail 31-22. The Saints quickly reestablished their double-digit lead in the last 2:30, helping them to a 39-26 lead at halftime.
  • Just as they did in the first quarter, the Saints came out firing to start the second half, opening play with a 12-2 run over 2:35, boosting their lead to the largest of the game at 51-28. In total, EC outscored the Blue Jays by eight in the third quarter as Emmanuel took a 57-36 lead into the fourth.
