BOSTON – Emmanuel women's volleyball made it 10 straight wins on Tuesday night, opening the October schedule with a 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 15-25, 25-17) win over the New England College Pilgrims in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play on Andy Yosinoff Court.
The Saints are unbeaten since dropping their first two matches of the season while reaching a double-digit win streak for the first time since they won 11-in-a-row in the 2009 season. In addition, Emmanuel is a perfect 4-0 in the GNAC for the first time since 2018. The Pilgrims fall to 6-8 (2-3 GNAC) with the loss.
In the opening set, the Pilgrims were out to an early 8-2 lead but the Saints used 16 total kills, combined with just one attack error, to hit .357 from the floor and comeback to win the set. From 8-2, the Saints went on a 14-7 to take a one-point lead. A back-and-forth end to the set came down to Emmanuel claiming the final four points, including a pair of kills by first-year

In the second set, both teams struggled for offense as the Saints had just 10 team kills compared to the Pilgrims five team kills in the frame. The turning point of the set was a 6-2 spurt for the Saints that extended their small lead to a 20-15 advantage. The sides traded points with NEC defending three set points before Bossou provided the final kill of the set, giving Emmanuel another 25-20 set win.
The Saints struggled in the third set while the Pilgrims took advantage of the mistakes, leading to a 25-15 third set win for New England. The Pilgrims used a 13-1 scoring explosion to run away from the Saints in the frame, giving them a 17-8 lead, following the run. Emmanuel got no closer than eight points as NEC finished up the set with a kill by sophomore

The fourth set stayed close through the first half of play, eventually leading to a 13-13 tie. A Saints 9-2 run that followed helped Emmanuel clinch the victory, as they took control with a 22-15 edge. The visitors defended one match point before Saints junior
Isabella Marquez finished the match with a kill, lifting her side to a 25-17 set victory.
Marquez finished with a match-high 20 kills to go with 14 digs while hitting .378 on the night. The junior outside hitter reached 20 kills for the fourth time this season. Bossou added nine kills to go along with four blocks. First-year
Madison Sherman chipped in with six kills and four blocks.

Savannah Pilialoha had a team-best 11 kills while Winters added an additional 10 kills. Junior
Kristina Cardello finished the night with a match-best 19 digs.
The Saints will look for their 11
th consecutive win on Friday, Oct. 4, as they face Colleges of the Fenway and GNAC foe, Simmons at 7:00 p.m. The Pilgrims return to action with a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 5 with Colby-Sawyer and Anna Maria.
