Women's Volleyball Wins Third Straight in 3-1 Victory at Curry

MILTON, Mass. - Emmanuel women's volleyball took home their third straight win and sixth in their last seven matches, following a 3-1 victory (25-8, 20-25, 25-21, 25-21) over the Curry Colonels on Wednesday evening in Katz Gymnasium in non-conference play.

The win moves the Saints to 17-6, equaling their win total from last season. Curry drops to 1-21 in the loss.

A tale of two different sets in the first two frames of the night, the Saints took the opening set 25-8, after winning 12 of the match's first 13 points, on the way to a dominant first-set performance. A closer a second set saw the Saints and Colonels battling throughout for momentum, as Curry found the final run, embarking on a set-closing 8-1 span, claiming the second set 25-20.

In the third, after the Saints jumped out to a 10-point lead, Curry fought back to within one, going on a 9-0 run to trail 18-17. Emmanuel recovered by winning the next four points and holding off the Colonels in a 25-21 set win.

In the fourth and final set, an early lead for Curry was erased by an Emmanuel 10-1 spurt, as the Saints used that run to hold the lead through the rest of the set in another 25-21 set win.

Junior Isabella Marquez and Letitia Bossou both finished with 11 kills on the night. Sophomore Kason Huynh matched a career-high with 24 digs to go along with 22 assists and five aces. Wednesday marked Huynh's third 20-20 match of the season. Curry's Kyah Earls led all players with 19 kills while hitting .375 on the night.

The Saints head back into conference play on Saturday, Nov. 2, in a tri-match with Mitchell and Saint Joseph's of Maine. Curry hosted Endicott on Friday, Nov. 1 at 6:00 p.m.
