Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Camels Three-Point Shooting Downs Men's Basketball, 82-68 on Wednesday Night

BOSTON – In their final home game before the Holiday Break, Emmanuel men's basketball dropped a non-conference game to the Connecticut College Camels, 82-68, on Wednesday night at Andy Yosinoff Court.

The Camels are up to 4-3 this season and have won back-to-back games for the first time in 2024. The Saints are in search of their first victory as they fall to 0-8.

The three-point shot was effective for the Camels on Wednesday as five of their first six made shots were from beyond the arc, giving the visitors an early 17-6 edge. Junior Elias Espinosa and first-year Garrett Clar each made a pair of three-pointers in the opening 5:09, helping the Camels to their 11-point lead.

The Saints could only break through to a single-digit deficit on two occasions as Conn. College continued to shoot the three-ball well. The Camels finished the half shooting 10-of-19 from beyond the arc, including a buzzer-beating, off-balance triple by senior Cam Schainfeld, that gave the Camels a 47-34 lead at the break.

The frenetic pace of the first half was slowed in the second as fouls by the Camels throughout the early portion of the half put the Saints in the foul-shooting bonus with 12:09 to go.

Using those foul shots, the Saints took their double-digit deficit down to nine at 61-52 with 10:06 remaining.

But the Camels shooting and three-point efficiency would squash any thought of a comeback by the Saints as a 13-3 run over the next 3:35 lifted Conn. College to its largest lead of the night, 74-55. Emmanuel managed to get within a dozen late in the half, but a season-high 15 made threes by the Camels helped the visitors to an 82-68 win.

Schainfeld finished with a game-high 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. Sophomore Dylan Watson added 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the double-double. Clar and Espinosa chipped in with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Saints junior Vondre Chase finished with 18 points on 6-for-14 shooting, to go along with nine rebounds. Sophomore Cameron Snowden had 16 points, including a perfect 10-for-10 from the foul line, becoming just the fifth player in team history to shoot 100 percent at the line with 10 free throws made. Sophomore Noah Beaudet added 11 points while junior Ismani Cepeda had nine points off the bench.

The Saints travel to Springfield College on Saturday, Dec. 7, for a 1:00 p.m. game in Emmanuel's last contest before the break. The Camels head to New York University (NYU) on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. tip.
