BOSTON – Emmanuel women's volleyball swept a tri-match Saturday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, with wins that included a victory over Johnson & Wales for the first time since 2014, and a third consecutive win over Colby-Sawyer, all part of increasing their winning streak to six matches, following the two-win day.
The Saints are up to 6-2 (2-0 GNAC) and have won their last six contests. Johnson and Wales won the neutral game to move to 3-6 (1-1 GNAC) this season while the Chargers were swept on Saturday, dropping them to 5-4 (0-2 GNAC).
Emmanuel needed four sets to take down the Wildcats for the first time in their last nine tries while the Saints needed a full five sets to defeat the Chargers.
The Saints were out to a 2-0 sets lead in the opening match against JWU and were on the verge of a straight sets sweep before a 5-0 run by Johnson & Wales helped them to a 20-17 lead. Emmanuel managed to tie the set up late, but back-to-back Wildcat points finished off the third, in favor of JWU, 25-23.
In the fourth, the Saints used their own 5-0 run in the middle of the set to take a three-point lead, but their six-consecutive-point outburst in the latter stages set up match point. The Wildcats defended match point once before a service error gave Emmanuel a 25-17 set win.

In the five-set second match, the Saints came out of the break slowly, dropping the first set, before runaway wins in set two (25-10) and three (25-18) put Emmanuel on track. Colby-Sawyer needed extra points in the fourth (29-27) to set up the fifth.
In the deciding set, the Saints were mistake-free, hitting 6-for-14 from the floor, with no errors, to hit a match-best .429 from the floor. Tied at 7-7, Emmanuel broke free with a 5-0 run, including four of their six kills in the set. The Chargers managed to pull within three, but a Hong kill, followed by a Hong ace, and finished off with a Chargers error, gave the Saints the fifth set, 15-9.
