Box Score NEWTON, Mass. – Saints women's soccer scored three goals in their sixth consecutive match to start 2024, picking up a 3-0 win over Lasell on Wednesday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.
Emmanuel stays unbeaten in 2024, moving to 5-0-1 (3-0-1 GNAC) this season. Now up to 30 goals this season, the Saints lead all NCAA Division III schools in total goals while ranking inside the top-five in scoring offense, averaging 5.00 goals per game.
The Lasers fall to 2-2-1 (1-1-1 GNAC) after hosting their first match of the year.
The scoring started early for the Saints, taking a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute on the second of the season by junior
Maya Daryanani. Off a failed clear, the ball found Daryanani at the top of the penalty area and with no hesitation, the junior midfield struck a left-footed shot into the right-side netting for the 1-0 lead.
Despite numerous opportunities, the Saints were held in check, thanks in part to the goalkeeping of Lasell junior
Elizabeth DaSilva, who made four saves in the first half, keeping the Lasers within a goal.
It took until the 76
th minute for the Saints to double their advantage with junior
Liz McCormick doubling the Emmanuel lead. A pass from graduate student
Hailey Goodman set up a cutback on goal for McCormick, who fired from 15 yards out, into the top right corner, for the 2-0 lead.
Just minutes later, junior
Sarah Dullaghan wrote her name in the rarest of sections of the program record book, scoring her 10
th of the season, making her the fourth player in team history to reach 100 career points.
A perfectly-weighted pass over the Lasers defense by McCormick landed softly for Dullaghan, who fired a shot on the half-volley, beating DaSilva, to give Dullaghan her 101
st career point. The total points mark comes courtesy of 44 goals and 13 career assists.
The Saints offense once again showed its strength on Wednesday, outshooting Lasell 18-6 over the 90 minutes. Emmanuel's defense and goaltending showed their own power, as first-year
Teigan Robie picked up another win, making three stops to improve to 3-0-0.
Emmanuel looks to stay unbeaten as they return to action on Saturday, Sept. 21, hosting Dean for a 3:00 p.m. match at Clemente Field. The Lasers are back on Saturday, hosting Anna Maria at noon.
