BOSTON – Emmanuel men's volleyball finished up the 2
nd Annual Fenway Classic, splitting a pair of matches on Sunday afternoon. Following a straight sets loss to No. 9 Hobart, the Saints went on to beat Endicott in their second match of the day 3-1. After four matches of the Fenway Classic, the Saints finished 2-2, and improve to 5-3 overall.
The Hobart Statesmen offense proved to be a difference-maker to start Sunday, completing their 3-0 win (25-21, 25-20, 25-20) by hitting .302 from the floor, in three highly-competitive sets.
In the opening set, the Saints held a 20-18 lead, but the Statesmen finished the set on a 7-1 scoring run, claiming the opening frame. It was another strong closeout in the second set for Hobart, as the final five points favored the visitors in a 25-20 win. In the third, a late pull away by Hobart helped them to the 3-0 win.

Michael Shelley had a match-high 17 kills while fellow junior
Trey Guest added in six kills.
In the second match, Emmanuel claimed just its second win against Endicott in their last nine meetings, defeating the Gulls 3-1 (25-18, 26-28, 26-24, 25-21).
The Saints first set featured just two attack errors, as the home side hit .455 from the floor to claim a 25-18 set win. In the second, the Saints failed to close out a 23-20 lead, as Endicott finally broke through on their fourth set point to win 28-26. In the third, more extra play was necessary, as a 24-24 tie was broken by back-to-back Saints points, giving them a 26-24 win. In the final set, the Saints overcame the Gulls hitting .550 from the floor to come away with a 25-21 set win.
Shelley once again led the match, finishing with a season-high 25 kills while hitting .362 for the match. Guest came away with 17 kills and six service aces while senior
Jyles Amirault chipped in with six kills, four digs, and three aces.
The Saints are back in action on Thursday, Jan. 30 with a trip to Lasell for a conference match at 7:00 p.m. against the Lasers.
