BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women's soccer team stormed back in the second half, scoring two unanswered goals to defeat Norwich University 3-1 on a windy Friday afternoon in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Quarterfinals at Roberto Clemente Field and advance to the conference semifinals.
The one-seeded Saints (13-3-3, 11-0-2 GNAC) remained at an impasse with the eight-seed through 17 minutes, with neither side able to capitalize. In the 18th minute Liz McCormick sent a corner kick into the loaded box and the chaos resulted in a Norwich own goal to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. The Cadets responded swiftly. Capitalizing on a rebounded save from Saints goalkeeper, Teagan Robie, Kat Probst sent the ball into the lower right corner of the net to even the score at 1-1.
Emmanuel wasted little time turning the game around after the break. Liz McCormick broke through in the 54th minute put the Saints ahead 2-1, finishing off a sustained Emmanuel attack that had already produced two saves from Norwich goalkeeper Michaela Dubey.
Just over two minutes later, Paige Letourneau sent a rocket over the hands of Dubey at the 56:01 mark, converting a feed from Sarah Dullaghan, to make it 3-1. The goal capped a dominant stretch where Emmanuel fired off four shots in less than three minutes.
Emmanuel continued to pressure the Norwich defense throughout the second half, outshooting the Cadets 14-1 in the half. McCormick was particularly active in the attack, recording six second-half shot attempts. Dubey was forced to make multiple saves to keep Norwich within striking distance, tallying 11 saves on the day.
The match grew chippy late, with both Dullaghan and Norwich's Colby Magoon receiving yellow cards in the 59th minute. Despite three late Norwich corner kicks, Robie and the Emmanuel defense stood firm to preserve the two-goal advantage. Robie made a season-high five saves.
Emmanuel advances to the GNAC Semifinals slated for Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Roberto Clemente Field.
