BEVERLY, Mass. – Saints men's volleyball suffered a straight sets loss (25-22, 25-17, 25-15) on Tuesday night in their only game over Spring Break, falling to Endicott at MacDonald Gymnasium in non-conference play.
The loss drops the Saints to 9-8 while the victory moves Endicott to 7-7 as the Gulls sweep the season series against the Saints, going 2-0 against Emmanuel this season.
In the opening set, the Saints held a four-point lead late in the set before the Gulls got back into the first with four straight points, tying the set at 17-17. A 5-1 surge by Endicott late in the set lifted them out front for the 25-22 win.
The Gulls played their second and third sets nearly perfect, hitting above .400 from the floor in their straight sets win. In the second, Endicott combined for 14 team kills on 28 attempts with two errors, hitting .429 in the 25-17 win. In the final set, the Gulls went for 15 kills on 27 attempts and three errors, hitting a match-best .444 in the 25-15 win.
For the Gulls,
Jake Laborde finished with a match-high 13 kills and two service aces.
Aiden Iacovelli added eight kills to go with five digs while
Corey Klass added seven kills.
Saints junior
Trey Guest finished with a team-high nine kills, hitting .333 from the floor. Senior
Jyles Amirault added six kills and four digs.
Emmanuel returns this weekend on Saturday, March 8, in a tri-match with Bard and VTSU-Johnson, hosted at Bard. The Gulls are back tomorrow night at Curry for a 6:00 p.m. game.
