Men's Lacrosse Wins Sixth Straight Game in 23-2 Victory at Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass. - Netting a season-high 23 goals, Emmanuel men's lacrosse picked up their sixth consecutive victory, defeating the Anna Maria AMCATS on Saturday afternoon in Great Notheast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play at Caparso Field.

The victory moves the Saints to 6-5 (5-0 GNAC, 4-0 GNAC North) as Emmanuel is tied for the longest active winning streak in the conference. The AMCATS drop to 4-5 (0-4 GNAC, 0-3 GNAC North) as they have now lost three straight games.

After trading the opening goals in the first 4:04 of the game, the Saints rattled off seven consecutive tallies spanning the first and second quarters. Five different players scored for the Saints in the first quarter, including a pair of goals for sophomore Cooper Mehlhorn. As the run continued into the second quarter, first-year Braxton Bragg and senior Ethan Madura finished the scoring run that led to an 8-1 lead.

The AMCATS broke the Saints scoring string, cutting the deficit to 8-2, but from that point, Emmanuel held Anna Maria off the board while scoring 15 unanswered goals in the final 39:42 of the game, leading to the 23-2 victory.

Mehlhorn finished with a game-high five goals to go with two assists for seven points. Junior Cole Cloney added four goals in the victory while Bragg, Madura, and first-year Gavin Hunt all had three-goal outings. First-year goalie Colby Enos won his sixth straight decision, improving to 6-4 this year.

The Saints head to New England College on Wednesday, April 9, for a 7:00 p.m. game in GNAC North play.
