PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Emmanuel College men's soccer team notched its first win of the season on the road at Johnson & Wales University on Saturday in non-conference action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex. The Saints (1-0-2) out shot the Wildcats (1-2-0) 11-7 and scored the only goal of the match on a misplay by JWU that resulted in an own goal 1:46 into the match.
Freshman goalkeeper
Owen Silva had two huge saves in the final minute. Christopher Vargas' first shot on goal at 89:37 was blocked by Silva, but Vargas got another quick shot off at 89:44 which Silva managed to save. Silva improves to 10 saves on the season.
Sophomore
Rafael Matamoros paced the Saints offensive effort with four shots.
Benjamin Anderson added two shots of his own and
Jacob Beck,
Joe Anderson, and
Gabriel Eduarte each with one shot.
Emmanuel men's soccer will host Suffolk University in its first home contest of 2025 on Tuesday, September 9 at 12:00PM at Roberto Clemente Field.
