Women's Soccer Drops Non-Conference Match to Connecticut College on Wednesday Night

BOSTON - Emmanuel women's soccer lost its final non-conference match of the season on Wednesday night, falling to the Connecticut College Camels, 5-0, from Clemente Field. The Saints move to 6-5-3 on the season, while the Camels are up to 5-5-1.

The Saints were behind early thanks to an own goal in the seventh minute. Blessing Kieh sent in a cross from close range that was kicked in by a Saints defender, giving the Camels an early 1-0 edge. The rest of the half was evenly matched, with both teams attempting just three shots apiece, as the one-goal lead held to the half.

Conn. College doubled its lead in the 53rd minute with Chloe Koubel scoring her first of the season. The Saints continued applying pressure, forcing a number of stops from the Camels keeper, but the home side remained off the board despite a few quality chances.

The Camels put the match out of reach in the final 12 minutes, scoring a trio of tallies in just over eight minutes. Goals in the 80th, 84th, and 88th minute provided further insurance as the Camels claimed a 5-0 win.

For the Camels, Maya Griffin was the leading offensive producer, finishing with two goals and one assist. Keeper Maia Kafer made five stops for the clean sheet.

Saints junior goalie Teigan Robie kept the home team in the game for much of the match and finished her night with nine saves. Sophomore Grace Foster led Emmanuel with three shots on the night.

The Saints have four matches remaining, all against conference opponents in the next two weeks. The string of conference matches starts on Saturday, Oct. 17, as the Saints host Saint Joseph's College of Maine for a 12:00 p.m. match. The Saints will honor the Class of 2027 with a Senior Day before the noon kick.
