Box Score Franklin, Mass - For the fourth straight time against Dean, Emmanuel hit triple digits in the score column as they dominated the Bulldogs on Wednesday night. The Saints (16-6, 9-0) used their size advantage and relentless offensive attack to remain perfect in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play as they toppled Dean (7-15, 2-7) 103-63.
Both teams were trading baskets as the first quarter was underway, as 19 points were scored in the first four minutes, with the Saints leading 11-8. The lead started to grow slowly but surely, as a three from sophomore guard
Lia Krumian gave the team a 16-8 advantage halfway through the quarter. After an improbable save from
Nylah Mitchell to get the ball back to the team, momentum was firmly on the Saints side.
A layup from
Eliana Jackson brought the lead up to 13 at 26-13, two of her team leading eight points in the first half. A quick two from Dean ended the quarter, as Emmanuel held an 11 point advantage.
Unlike the first quarter, the beginning of the second featured a lot of defense, with Emmanuel only scoring four points in the first three minutes, yet still holding a 30-16 advantage. This would not hold for long though, as the offense quickly kicked into gear. Off a quick pass from
Kaitlyn Bartash, first year
Cassidy Yung buried a left wing three to bring the lead up to 17 with just over 5:25 to play. This was all part of a 26-8 run from Emmanuel in the second.
It was the behind-the-arc shooting that sparked the run for Emmanuel, as four of them were made during the quarter, with two coming from first year guard
Nylah Moore. This allowed the visitors to head into the locker room with a 56-24 advantage.
Defense was the story of the third quarter, as Bartash set the tone early with two loud blocks early in the frame. With six to play Mitchell kept the defensive theme going, as she swiftly stripped the Dean guard and finished the layup on the other end. With 3:18 to play, first year
Kendyl Ouimette hit her second three of the quarter to extend the lead to 75-40, with the Saints firmly in control. The team headed into the fourth holding a 79-42.
The Saints got their largest lead of the night in the fourth when Yung hit her third three to extend the lead to 40 at 88-48. Emmanuel cruised the rest of the way as they picked up their ninth conference win to stay perfect in GNAC play.
First year
Cassidy Yung paced the team in scoring with 14 points off the bench, and four three pointers. Junior
