Men's Basketball Finishes Regular Season With 98-90 Loss at Rivier, Lock In Fifth Seed for GNAC Playoffs

NASHUA, N.H. - With the fifth seed in the conference postseason already determined by tip-off, Emmanuel men's basketball finished its regular season with a 98-90 loss to the Rivier Raiders on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play from the Muldoon Center. The Raiders concluded the regular season with a 12-13 record (5-7 GNAC), while the Saints posted a 13-12 record (7-5 GNAC) following the loss.

A fairly even match throughout, Saturday's game came down to the final 10 minutes to make the difference for the Raiders. Tied 68-68 with 9:30 remaining, Rivier used a 17-8 surge over a span of 4:22, giving the home side their largest lead of the night at 85-76. Senior Robinson Baguidy and junior Theo Briscoe IV combined for 16 of the Raiders 17 points in the run that led to a nine-point advantage.

Emmanuel responded with five consecutive points to cut the deficit to 85-81 with 3:51 remaining, but the Raiders offense could not be stopped down the stretch, never allowing Emmanuel within one possession, as Rivier finished off a successful Senior Day with a 98-90 win.

Baguidy led the Raiders with 28 points and 12 assists for his third double-double of the season, while adding six rebounds. Senior Izaiah Shaw-Glen added 19 points and a career-high 17 rebounds.

Saints junior Noah Beaudet scored a game-high 30 points on 13-of-21 shooting in 31 minutes. Fellow junior Mahari Guerrier added 23 points and six rebounds.

Emmanuel is locked in the No. 5 seed for the GNAC Playoffs and will travel to Lasell for the quarterfinals, currently scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7:00 p.m., with the weather potentially playing a role in playoff dates being adjusted. The Raiders season comes to a close as they were the last team out of the postseason, losing a four-team tiebreaker with Regis, Dean, and Norwich.
