DUDLEY, Mass. - Emmanuel men's volleyball split a pair of matches on Saturday evening, winning their first match of the day in straight sets over Bard, before losing in a five-set thriller to Nichols. With the split, the Saints now sit at 9-10 this season with five matches to go in the regular season.
In the first match of the day, Emmanuel claimed a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-14, 25-18) over Bard. The victory is the Saints second straight sets win over Bard this season. The Saints hit an efficient .337, including 20 kills on 31 attempts with four errors for senior
Trey Guest, equalling a .516 hitting percentage for Guest.
In the five-set loss to Nichols (22-25, 23-25, 25-8, 28-26, 18-16), the Saints won the first two sets before dropping the final three to the Bison. Emmanuel had four match points in the final frame, but was unable to convert on any opportunity, resulting in the Bison coming back for a five-set win.
The Saints are back in action on Wednesday, March 18, hosting the Illinois Institute of Technology at 7:00 p.m. on Yosinoff Court.
