Women's Lacrosse Drops Monday's Home Opener to Framingham State, 10-6

BOSTON – Emmanuel women's lacrosse made its first appearance at Clemente Field on Monday night, falling in their home opener, 10-6, to the Framingham State Rams, in non-conference play. The win moves the Rams to 2-3, as the Saints drop to 2-2 on the year.

Rams first-year Jenna James was the major player in Monday's win for Framingham State, posting her best appearance in her young career for Framingham State. Trailing 2-1, James began her scoring surge with three straight goals between the first and second quarters, all assisted by fellow rookie Kate McGovern, boosting the Rams to the lead, 4-2.

After first-year Delaney Johnston scored with 5:11 remaining in the first quarter to take a 2-1 lead, the Saints were held off the board for the remainder of the first half, while James' tallies and an additional goal for Lily Malloy gave the Rams a 5-2 lead at the break.

The Rams scored the opening two goals of the second half before the Saints finally broke through with 4:44 remaining in the quarter, as senior Madeline Wright scored her second of the night. Sophomore Emilia Ferraro was next on the board for Emmanuel, helping cut the deficit to 7-4, early in the fourth.

But three straight Rams goals, including two more for James, helped push Monday night's game out of reach. Despite late Saints goals by senior Avery Robillard and Wright, the Saints fell in non-conference play in their home opener, 10-6.

James scored a career-high six goals for the Rams with McGovern assisting on four of those tallies. Emma Kendzulak added a hat trick in the win, while goalie Isabella DiMare made 10 saves, improving to 2-3 on the year.

Wright finished with a hat trick for the Saints, as she has scored at least three goals in every game this season. Sophomore Keira Walsh made five saves for Emmanuel, falling to 2-2 on the year.

The Saints are back in action on Wednesday, March 11, returning to conference play in a 5:00 p.m. game at Rivier.
