Boston- Softball (8-20) snapped its seven-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon at Clemente Field, as they cleanly swept the visiting Bulldogs of Dean College (7-16). Never trailing in either match, the bats finally got going for the Saints, and first year
Carmen Crockett picked up two wins as the team improved to 7-3 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.
Â
Game one: Emmanuel 6 Dean 3
The Saints wasted no time on Saturday afternoon, as they poured in five runs in the bottom of the first. Following two walks from
Grace Garon and
Rylee Smith, a double from
Lucy Weineck into the gap at left center brought home the first two runs of the afternoon. Emmanuel could not stop hitting doubles in the first, as Crockett and
Emely Rodriguez each tallied one after the other to bring in the other three runs in the frame.
Â
Back at it in the bottom of the second, a double to right center from sophomore Syndey Taylor brought in another run, extending the lead to 6-0 for the home team.
Â
In the third, the Bulldogs decided to make some noise. After two walks to start, a single from Emily Kilpatrick brought home the first run of the day for the visitors, cutting the lead to five. After yet another walk, a double from Nina Ostafin brought home two more, cutting the once six point lead in half.
Â
From there, no side was able to get more than one hit in a frame, as
Carmen Crockett was able to hold it down the rest of the way, slamming the door on any sort of hope Dean had of snatching the first game. The Saints were able to hold on for a 6-3 victory.
Crockett posted her first two hits on the year, to go along with seven strong innings on the mound, only giving up three hits and striking out 10, picking up her third win on the year.

Game Two: Emmanuel 7 Dean 3
Â
The second game of the day started just like the first, with the Saints getting on the board early. After a single from Mekayla Poisson,
Grace Garon tripled to left field, bringing Poisson home and opening up the scoring.
Â
A couple errors and yet another RBI from
Lucy Weineck added in another two runs in the frame, as Emmanuel jumped out to a quick 3-0 advantage. In second Garon continued her hot day from the plate, as she doubled to left field bringing in yet another run for Emmanuel.
Â
In the bottom of the fourth with Emmanuel leading 5-0, a sacrifice fly from Taylor and a double from
Rylee Smith brought in two more runs to give the Saints a commanding 7-0 lead.
Â
In the top of the 5th inning, the Bulldogs were finally able to get to Crockett. After an error and a sac bunt, Xandra Silva singled up the middle, opening the scoring for Dean as they looked to climb back into the match. In the top of the 6th, Dean was able to get another two runs in, cutting the lead to four, but some more stellar pitching from Crockett diminished any hopes of a comeback as she posted her second win of the day, and fourth of the season.
Â
Garon paced the offense for the Saints in the second match, recording three hits and two RBI's. Taylor, Smith, Weineck and Rodriguez all chipped in RBI's, contributing to the balanced Saints attack. Crockett once again pitched all seven, allowing six hits and striking out four, allowing only two earned runs.
