WINTHROP, Mass. - Saints senior Kendall Newton and first year Brady Shankle were awarded with a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) cross-country weekly awards as announced on Monday. This comes following the Elms Blazers Classic, where the Women took home first place, and the Men came in second.
 
Newton led the way on Saturday, coming in first in the women's 6k with a final time of 25:00:06, propelling her to win the Runner of the Week award. The Magnolia, Mass. native is enjoying a great start to her final campaign, as just the prior weekend she set her PR in the 3k in the Suffolk Short Course Classic. Newton is also taking charge off the course, as she was named a captain for the 2026 season.
 
Brady Shankle was also awarded for his performance in the Elms Blazers Classic, taking home the rookie of the week award. The first year finished with a time of 32.53.4, good for 20th in the Men's 8k. The North Attleboro native also ran a 18.33 5k in his first collegiate appearance last weekend in the Suffolk Short Course Classic.
 
The Saints will return to the course on Saturday when they travel to Dartmouth for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
