EMMANUEL WOMEN'S HOOP TEAM STOPS SIMMONS

Boston, MA - Sophomore guard Iman Davis (Toms River, NJ) led the Emmanuel College Women's Basketball Team to an 83-56 win over visiting Simmons College at the Jean Yawkey Center on Saturday afternoon. The Saints led wire to wire and improved to 9-5 on the season and 3-0 in the conference with today's GNAC win. Davis connected on 10 of 13 attempts from the floor and was perfect from the free throw line, en route to her game-high 22 points and 5 steals.

The Saints jumped out to an early lead and took a 39-24 advantage into the break. The Saints' tenacious defense forced 35 Shark turnovers. Emmanuel scored 36 points off the Simmons errors and netted 29 fast break points. Senior guards Jade Paez (Bronx, NY) and Brittany Bushman chipped in with 12 points each, while rookie point guard Casey Shevlin (Medford, NY) dished out a game-high 7 assists for the Saints

Simmons had two players scoring in double figures. The Sharks (4-10, 0-3 GNAC) were led by senior forward Nikki Cohen's (Wellesley, MA) 14 points. Junior Sarah Clayton (Falmouth, MA) added 13 points (6-13 FG) in the effort. Simmons' forwards Lauren Kreckie (Braintree, MA) and Stephanie Fox (West Springfield, MA) combined for 14 rebounds in the game.

Emmanuel will be back in action on Monday (1/21) afternoon when the Saints host the Monks of Saint Joseph's College (ME) in a 1pm start.
