EMMANUEL WOMEN'S HOOP TEAM HOLDS OFF JWU

Boston, MA - Sophomore guard Iman Davis (Toms River, NJ) led Emmanuel to a 75-61 win over visiting Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's basketball action. Davis posted a double-double, scoring a game-high 22 points on 7 for 12 shooting, and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds. She also tallied 5 of the team's 17 steals. The Saints' win over Johnson & Wales marked the Wildcats' first conference loss of the season.

Emmanuel's senior guard Jade Paez (Bronx, NY) recorded a double-double with 12 points and a career-high 10 assists. Senior guard Brittany Bushman (Portsmouth, NH) chipped in with 15 points, hitting 7 of her 13 field goal attempts. The Saints received 59 of their 75 points from backcourt players, with Davis, Paez, and Bushman all scoring in double figures for Emmanuel.

Emmanuel's pressing defense forced 30 Wildcat turnovers. The Saints scored 36 points off of the JWU errors. Despite being out-rebounded, 50-44, and sending the Wildcats to the free throw line 32 times, the Saints were able to come away with the win. Emmanuel improved to 11-5 on the season and the Saints remain undefeated in the conference at 5-0. Johnson & Wales fell to 6-10 overall and 4-1 in GNAC play.

The Wildcats had a balanced scoring attack, with four players scoring in double figures. Sophomore guard Jeniphr Moxley (Lakewood, MA) led the team with 14 points. Sophomore forward Alexia Ramirez (San Marcos, CA) notched a double-double, scoring 13 points and collecting a game-high 14 boards. Senior guard Nicole Laferriere (Windham, NH) chipped in with 11 points, while junior guard Johanna Santosuosso (Salem , NH) chipped in with 10 points and a team-high 7 assists.

Emmanuel will return to the court on Saturday (1/26), when the Saints travel to West Hartford, CT to take on the Blue Jays of Saint Joseph College in a 1pm start. Johnson & Wales is also back in action on Saturday, when the Wildcats host Daniel Webster College at 1pm.
