BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel Saints cruised to a 3-0 sweep of the visiting Falcons of Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday night in men's volleyball action played in the Jean Yawkey Center. With the win, Emmanuel improves to 6-4 overall and 5-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, while Albertus Magnus drops to 0-6 on the season and 0-5 in the league.
With the Falcons playing in their inaugural season as a varsity program, the Saints eased to wins in straight sets, 30-7, 30-10, 30-19. Sophomore captain Jacob DeLuise (Wakefield, R.I.) led Emmanuel with 9 kills and 7 digs. Freshman Michael Mottola (Quincy, Mass.) notched 7 kills and 7 service aces, while senior Brian Anderson (Akron, Ohio) picked up 6 kills and 4 blocks in the win. Setters Michael Delsignore (Narragansett, R.I.), Sean O'Connor (Hampstead, N.H.), and Taylor Lowe (Malibu, Calif.) combined for 35 assists for the Saints.
The Saints will play in Endicott College's highly competitive invitational tournament over the weekend. Emmanuel will open up the tournament facing New Jersey City University (7-3) on Saturday (2/14) at 3pm. The Saints will then face nationally ranked Ramapo College (9-1) on Saturday at 5pm.
