NASHUA, N.H. - The Emmanuel Men's Soccer Team set a new program-record for wins in a season on Monday afternoon, when the Saints cruised to a 2-0 victory over Rivier College. This was Emmanuel's 9th win and 10th shutout of the 2011 season. The Saints, who extended their current win streak to five games, scored both goals in the second half enroute to the 2-0 win. Emmanuel is now 9-3-4 overall and 4-3 against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponents. Rivier is still seeking its first win of the season, sliding to 0-10 on the season and 0-8 in the conference after today's loss.

Emmanuel pummeled the Rivier defense with 51 shots during the 90 minutes of play, with 28 of them coming on goal. Of the 28 shots on goal, the Saints fired off 20 in the first half. Rivier's freshman goaltender Bryar King (Berlin, N.H.) was up to the task as she stifled all 20 first half tries by the Saints.

The tide turned for Riv in the second stanza. Just over a minute into the half, Emmanuel found the scoreboard. Sophomore midfielder Ryan Brady (Springfield, Vt.) scored unassisted goal as he found himself all alone inside the box. The goal, which would hold up as the game-winner, was Brady's second in 2011.

The Saints net an insurance marker to extend the lead to 2-0, when Juan Levy (Andover, Mass.) sprinted past two Rivier defenders and put one into the lower left corner inside the 84th minute. This was also Levy's second goal of the season.

Emmanuel's senior goal keeper Patrick Froass (Oneida, N.Y.) picked up the win for the Saints, going the distance in net. This was Froass' 4th win of the year and 3rd in shutout fashion. He is now 4-0 on the season.

Rivier will host Fitchburg State University in a non-conference match up on Thursday (10/13). Emmanuel will host the top-ranked Falcons of Albertus Magnus College on Saturday (10/15) at 3:00 PM. This is the Saints' final regular season home game of the year. The seven seniors on the Emmanuel squad will be honored prior to the start of the game.
