VOLLEYBALL TEAMS DROPS GORDON, 3-1

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball Team took care of Gordon College in four sets in non-conference action played in the Jean Yawkey Center on Thursday night. The Saints played to a 2-0 match advantage, winning 25-18 and 25-23, but dropped set three, 20-25. Emmanuel then rebounded to take the fourth set, 25-20. With the win, the Saints improved to 12-13 on the season, while Gordon dropped to 12-10.

The Saints received a solid offensive effort from senior middle Rebecca Stanton (Quincy, Mass.), who hit .500 for the match. Stanton slammed down 16 kills in 24 swings to go along with her match-high 5 blocks on the night. Kathryne Olsen (Fairhaven, Mass.) and Moriah Logan (Halifax, Mass.) combined for 13 kills. Olsen and freshman setter Alison Donnelly (Longmeadow, Mass.) combined to dish out 38 assists, while junior libero Yun-Ting Lee (Cambridge, Mass.) recorded a team-high 19 digs in the win.

The Fighting Scots were led by Alex Nawoichik's (Hamilton, Mass.) 12 kills, hitting .579 for the match. Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Kranyak (Locust Grove, Va.) added 9 kills and 14 digs. Senior setter Andrea Amado (Glastonbury, Conn.) handed out 35 assists, while junior libero Keri Hustus (Eastford, Conn.) gathered a match-high 25 digs in the effort.

The Saints will return to GNAC action this Saturday (10/15), when they travel across town to take on Suffolk University and Anna Maria College in a tri-match beginning at 2:00 PM.
