PAXTON, Mass. - Sophomore Allan Parrelli
(Reading, Mass.) had two goals to lift the Emmanuel College Men's
Soccer Team to a 3-0 victory over Anna Maria College at AMCAT Field
on Saturday afternoon. The Saints notched their 11th shutout of the
season and improved to 10-5-4 (5-5 GNAC) with the win, while the
AMCATS fell to 3-15-1 (1-9 GNAC) on the year.
The match featured scoreless play in the first half, but Saints
junior midfielder Jeremy Scanlon
(Belmont, Mass.) scored just two minutes into the second half with
an unassisted strike. Scanlon's goal, his second of the 2011
season, would hold up as the game-winner.
Emmanuel made it a 2-0 game on a give-and-go goal down the right
wing between Parrelli and James Carroll
(Guilford, Conn.). Parrelli then scored a late insurance goal for
the 3-0 victory.
Emmanuel outshot Anna Maria, 16-6, on the day. Amcats goaltender
Mike Dandurand (Warwick, R.I.) made six saves in net for AMC.
Emmanuel's senior keeper Patrick Froass
(Oneida, NY) made three saves and earned the win, improving to 5-0
on the season with his 4th shutout of the year.
The Saints will now wait to hear about their opponent for the
upcoming Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament.
Emmanuel will play in a quarterfinal match on Sunday, October
30th.
