Women's Soccer Opens October With 7-0 GNAC Victory at Norwich

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Emmanuel women's soccer opened October with a high-scoring performance, coming away with a 7-0 victory over the Norwich Cadets on Tuesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Sabine Field.

The victory boosts the Saints to 8-1-1 (6-1-1 GNAC), as they return to the win column following a loss to end September at Rivier. The Cadets drop their first conference match of the season, as they fall to 6-2-1 (4-1-1 GNAC) in the loss.

The Saints were on the board early, scoring two goals in the opening five minutes for a 2-0 lead. Junior Maya Daryanani took advantage of a failed clearance in the fourth minute, scoring from 12 yards out, while graduate forward Hailey Goodman scored a minute later, netting a loose ball into the top left corner.

Goodman was back on the board in the 15th minute, shooting from long range and curling a ball from 20 yards away into the top left corner for the second time, giving the Saints a 3-0 edge. Junior Sarah Dullaghan produced the next two tallies, scoring in the 24th and 33rd minutes, boosting the Emmanuel lead to 5-0.

The Saints added two more goals in the second half as junior Liz McCormick found the left side netting in the 72nd minute and first-year Reese Cromwell scored her third of the year, tapping in a cross in the 80th minute.

Dullaghan is up to 15 goals this season, as she's found the net in nine of the Saints 10 matches this year. Her 15 tallies lead the GNAC while her six assists to total 36 points also leads the conference. McCormick is up to seven goals and a conference-leading eight assists after her performance on Tuesday. Goodman and Daryanani move their goal total to six and four, respectively.

First-years Teigan Robie and Emily Cordano, along with junior Gaby Baker combined for the shutout victory. Robie takes credit for the win after getting the start, making two saves and moving to 6-1-0 this season.

The Saints shift their focus to a tough test on Thursday, Oct. 3, as they welcome Connecticut College to Clemente Field for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. The Cadets are back on Friday, Oct. 4, hosting Mitchell at 6:00 p.m. to finish off a six-game homestand.
