Women's Soccer Scores 11, Dullaghan Nets Six in 11-2 Win at Simmons

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Saints women's soccer posted 11 goals on Wednesday night while junior Sarah Dullaghan became the first Saints player in the program's last 25 seasons to score six goals in a game, as Emmanuel took down the Simmons Sharks, 11-2, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Daly Field.

The Saints improve to 11-2-1 (8-2-1 GNAC) on the season while the Sharks drop down to 2-7-3 (2-6-3 GNAC). Emmanuel sits in third place in the GNAC table with four matches remaining in the regular season. Simmons sits one spot out of the GNAC Play-In Round with four matches to go in their year.

The 11-goal output is the third time since the 2004 season that the Saints have scored at least 11 goals in a single match. In the 2004 campaign, the Saints had a 13-0 win over Pine Manor and an 11-0 win over Southern Vermont.

As for Dullaghan, her six-goal game is the highest-scoring game by a player since Mikayla Guthrie scored five goals against Newbury College on Sept. 12, 2018. The junior forward totaled 12 points on the night, eclipsing the previous high from the last 25 years of 11 points, set by Vickie Shalian on Oct. 11, 1997, against Emerson.

The scoring started early with the Saints leading 2-0 in the opening six minutes on goals by junior Maya Daryanani and Dullaghan. The Sharks bounced back in the 22nd minute with Cerys Balmer scoring her ninth of the season, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

The next seven goals belonged to Emmanuel, spanning the first and second half, helping the Saints to a 9-1 lead. Dullaghan scored five during that span with tallies in the 41st, 47th, 48th, 51st, and 80th minutes. Graduate forward Hailey Goodman and first-year Aleena Solano added two other goals in the seven-goal run that gave Emmanuel the 9-1 edge.

Balmer scored again for the Sharks in the final 10 minutes, but Saints goals in the 87th and 89th minutes by junior Annebel Balogh de Galantha and sophomore Libby Tennant, respectively, led to the 11-2 final.

Saints first-year goalie Teigan Robie played 61 minutes, making one save and improving to 8-1-0 in the win. Sharks goalie Mikaela Marie Javar made 11 saves in the loss.

Emmanuel heads to Anna Maria on Saturday, Oct. 19, for a noon match in GNAC play. The Sharks head to Lasell on Saturday for their own GNAC kickoff at noon.
