Dullaghan's Goal Pushes Women's Soccer Past Falcons, 1-0, on Senior Day

BOSTON - Saints Women's Soccer secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Albertus Magnus on Saturday afternoon at Clemente Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action. The two sides were locked in a stalemate after 45 minutes, but an early second half breakthrough saw the Saints take the 1-0 lead and earn a victory with significant postseason implications. The win brought the Saints' season record to 14-2-1 overall and 11-2-1 in GNAC play, while the Falcons dropped to 9-4-4 overall and 7-4-3 in conference games.

Prior to the match, Emmanuel College Athletics recognized two members of the Class of 2025, Rachel Harrington and Gabby Smyth, for their contributions to the program over the past four seasons.

The Saints' attack got started early with Sarah Dullaghan hitting the crossbar just over a minute into the matchup. Despite six first half shots, the home side was unable to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes. Albertus Magnus had just one shot in the frame and Saints goalkeeper Teigan Robie was in position to make the save, holding the match at 0-0 as the halftime horn sounded.

Emmanuel entered the second half in control, posting eight shots in the opening 11 minutes. The Saints finally found their breakthrough following a blocked Liz McCormick shot. The ball returned to the junior midfielder, who slid it across the goal to connect with the nation's top scorer, Sarah Dullaghan, netting the game's only goal in the 56th minute.

Minutes later, Albertus Magnus had an opportunity of their own to level the match. Tyler Stocking found herself behind the Saints backline and fired a shot at Robie from the left side, but the first-year's diving effort pushed the ball wide to hold the Emmanuel advantage.

Despite a 16-3 Saints shooting advantage in the final 45 minutes, they found the net only once. A strong defensive effort meant that the lone goal was enough as Emmanuel earned the crucial 1-0 victory in their final home match of the regular season.

Robie earned the victory in net, finishing with a pair of saves across the 90 minutes. Amy Stevens posted seven saves for the Falcons in the loss.

Up next, Albertus Magnus returns to New Haven with a visit from St. Joseph (Conn.) on Tuesday (10/29) at 6:00 PM. The Saints wrap-up their regular season on Tuesday at 3:00 PM with a trip to New England College.
