Women's Soccer Tallies Five First Half Goals, Adds Sixth in Second Half for 6-0 Win over Mitchell

BOSTON - The Emmanuel College women's soccer team (10-2-1, 7-2-1 GNAC) scored five goals within the first 15 minutes and added another later to secure a commanding 6-0 victory over Mitchell (0-9) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Wednesday night at Clemente Field.

The GNAC's top scorer, Sarah Dullaghan, got the Saints started early, finding the back of the net six minutes in to give the home side a 1-0 advantage. Just 32 seconds after play resumed, Eva Simmons doubled the Saints' lead following a Mitchell turnover, setting Emmanuel on a roll.

Jamilly Chaves and Hailey Goodman each added a goal for the Saints over the next 10 minutes, while Eva Simmons struck again for her second score of the evening. Emmanuel was quiet for the remainder of the half, but still carried a 5-0 lead as the halftime horn sounded.

Liz McCormick added a sixth goal for the home side in the 65th minute off a feed from Loliana Morales as the Saints secured a decisive 6-0 victory for their 10th win of the season.

Mariners goalkeeper Gemma Landry tallied 23 saves on the night, spending all 90 minutes in goal for the visitors. McCormick and Maya Daryanani each finished the matchup with two assists while Goodman and Morales added one apiece for the Saints.

Up next, Mitchell returns to New London for a contest with New England College on Saturday (10/12) at 4:00 PM. Emmanuel takes a week's rest before facing off with neighboring Simmons in a Colleges of the Fenway matchup on October 16th at 7:00 PM.
