Women's Volleyball Drops GNAC Match to League-Leading Lasell

BOSTON - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match to league-leading Lasell, 3-0, on Tuesday evening inside the Jean Yawkey Center. The loss moved the Saints to 19-7 overall and 9-4 in GNAC play while the Lasers improved to 25-5, remaining unbeaten in conference action at 13-0.

Trailing 7-6 in the first set, the Saints saw the Lasers surge ahead, winning seven of the next eight points to extend their lead to 14-6. The Saints responded by taking four of the following five points but were unable to narrow the gap further. Lasell finished the set well, earning the final six points to secure a 25-12 win in the opening frame.

The Saints started strong in the second set as they looked to level the match, but the Lasers responded with a five-point run to pull ahead 13-11. The teams were tied again at 14, but another 5-0 push from Lasell put the visitors back in command. A kill by Victoria Pariseault closed out the set for the Lasers at 25-20, giving them a 2-0 lead in the match.

With the score locked at five in the third set, a huge run from the Lasers opened up a significant advantage. The visitors rattled off nine consecutive points in a run that included three aces by McKenna McCool to lead 14-5. Emmanuel was unable to get within less that seven as the Saints fell 25-12 and 3-0 in the match.

The Saints were led by eight kills from junior Isabella Marquez and 14 assists from sophomore Kason Huynh. Sydney Katz fed the visiting hitters with 28 assists on the Lasers' 35 kills. Lasell finished the match with 12 aces to the Saints' one en route to the 3-0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-12) GNAC victory

Up next, the Lasers head to New London, N.H. for a GNAC tri-match on Saturday (11/9) with Colby-Sawyer and Elms beginning at 11:00 AM. The Saints return to the Jean Yawkey Center for a Senior Day tri-match with conference foes Dean and St. Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday at 10:00 AM.
