Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball Wins Twice on Tri-Match Saturday Against Dean, USJ

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Emmanuel women's volleyball won its 14th consecutive match, claiming victories over the Dean Bulldogs and the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon at Calhoun Gymnasium in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. The pair of wins moves the Saints to 19-1, as they continue their best start in program history. The Saints sit at 5-0 in conference play, joining Regis and Saint Joseph's College as the only other unbeaten teams in the GNAC.

In the opening match against Dean, the Saints and Bulldogs split the first two sets. In the third, Emmanuel combined to hit 13-for-17 from the floor, committing no errors, to finish with a .765 attack percentage, winning the third 25-13. An 8-2 run to start the fourth credited the distance needed for the Saints to win the set 25-21, as Emmanuel locked up a 3-1 victory.

A straight-sets sweep awaited the Saints in match two, as they opened the match with a 25-13 first set win. The visitors would post their second error-free frame in the second set, combining to hit 14-for-23, attacking at a .609 percentage, on the way to a 25-5 win. After trailing early in the third, Emmanuel used a 13-3 scoring spurt to take control of the set, as they earned the straight-sets win thanks to a 25-13 third set win.

The Saints 14-match winning streak is the second-longest in program history, just three wins short of the 17-match winning streak of the 2006 program, who went 21-11 (11-0 GNAC) that season.

Emmanuel returns to play on Tuesday, Oct. 14, as they welcome Colleges of the Fenway foe, Simmons, to Yosinoff Court for a 7:00 p.m. first serve in GNAC action.
